Indy Pro-AM provides excellent offseason competition and conditioning for all kinds of talent

High school, college and NBA players have a outstanding league in Indianapolis to stay in shape and improve their skills. The Indy Pro-AM takes place Tuesday and Thursday from June 28 to August 4, 2011 at the IUPUI gymnasium.

Who doesn’t want to watch basketball in June?

Carlos Knox, who I’ve gotten to know well over the last four years, started the Pro-AM a couple years and it has grown into something very special.

Just this year the likes of Eric Gordon, DJ White, Zach Randolph, Gordon Hayward, Shelvin Mack, Chishawn Hopkins, etc.

For about a month, these players gathered at IUPUI to play one game each night. There are four games each night—at 6, 7, 8 and 9 pm.

I attended the games on Thursday and was very impressed. Most specifically, Lance Stephenson showed up for only the second half of his game and scored 17. Hopkins led the way with 25 and showed tremendously leaping ability. Then in the second game, it was a battle between Shelvin Mack and IU’s Victor Oladipo. Will Sheehey and Jordan Hulls also played in that game.

More from the Indy Pro-Am in weeks to come.
