Indiana defeats Northwestern 71-66, gets win No. 20

Indiana lost four-of-five in January, but have since regrouped, recovered and raddled off four wins in five games. Northwestern was the Hoosiers latest victim, as IU executed in the final minutes to beat the Wildcats 71-66 at Assembly Hall.

With the victory, they improve to 20-6 overall, the first 20-win season in the Tom Crean era. After just 6, 10, 12 wins in Coach Crean’s first three years, this is big progress.

Crean said that the team talked after their Illinois win about getting the ‘benchmark’ win at home, in front of IU fans. It is a feel-good story for this program that has come so far.

Indiana has five games left in the regular season — three very favorable — with a trip to Iowa on Sunday up next. They can’t be complacent but must their focus and take it one game at a time.

My postgame video summary and analysis of the game is above.
