Scott Agness talking Pacers with Derek Schultz Friday on WNDE

There’s no shortage of sports items to discuss here in the spring. I’m looking forward to joining Derek Schultz in studio for an in-depth conversation about the Pacers, the season that was and the direction they need to go moving forward.

Schultz co-hosts ‘Query & Schultz’ weekdays from 3-7 p.m. on WNDE in Indianapolis. I’ll join Schultz at 4:30 p.m., so please listen on AM 1260 locally or online anywhere — and I invite you to add to the conversation by tweeting us, @ScottAgness and @Schultz1260.

The Pacers’ season ended much earlier than usual as they failed to reach the postseason for the first time in five seasons. They won 38 games, were one game short of qualifying, and now will have an extended vacation while 16 other teams play for the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Team President Larry Bird spoke candidly Friday, essentially hinting that they’d like to move on from Roy Hibbert, who has a player option for next year worth $15.5 million, and how he believes that they need to play faster and smaller. Six players from last season will be free agents, and they’ll try to re-sign most of them.

Among the questions that will be answered on the show: What went wrong this season, what should they address in the draft, do Hibbert and David West cash in on their player options, how Paul George is progressing, and how far can this team go next season…
