Orlando Johnson is headed out of the country and to the Philippines where he’ll play with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), a source close to Johnson confirmed to VigilantSports.com.

Johnson, the Pacers’ 2012 second-round pick, was in Indianapolis for a season and a half before being waived in Feb. 2014 to make room for Lavoy Allen in a trade with Evan Turner for Danny Granger.
He opened the year in Spain with the famed Baskonia, but then returned to the United States in early December and went back in the NBA’s Developmental League with the Austin Spurs. It was a good situation for him with a great organization. The team reached in the semi-final round of the playoffs, but lost to Santa Cruz, who topped the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the D-League finals.
(Last summer, he played on the Golden State Warriors’ Summer League team in Las Vegas.)
In 43 games with the Spurs, Johnson averaged 17.4 points (12th in the league), 5.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. He shot 49.6 percent from the floor, including 32.3 from outside. (See highlights below.)
On Tuesday, one day before traveling for his new job, Johnson spent time with “the youth” at La Gloria Elementary School in Gonzales, Calif. — and it was clearly a good time.
