Pacers to compete in 10-team Orlando Summer League

The Orlando Magic will once again host a Summer League in early July.

The Amway Center’s practice court hosts the annual Orlando Summer League in early July.

The Pacers will once again be participating in the Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League event held on the practice court at the Amway Center, the home of the Orlando Magic.

The Pacers have been longtime participants in this annual offseason event that is closed off to the public. There will be 10 teams, including two from the Magic, competing in the seven-day event running from July 4-10. Each team will play five games.

Teams with an entry: Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, and two Orlando Magic squads.

In each of the past two years, the Pacers have finished in third. Pacers longtime assistant coach Dan Burke is typically the head coach. (Click here to see who played on last year’s team.)

NBA TV will televise the games, and every game can be viewed on NBA.com and on the NBA mobile app.

Pacers Schedule:

Saturday, July 4 — Miami at Indiana, 9:00 a.m.
Monday, July 6 — Indiana at Orlando White, 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday, July 8 — Indiana at Detroit, 3:00 p.m.
Thursday, July 9 — Indiana at Orlando Blue, 1:00 p.m.
Friday, July 10 — Championship Day, opponent and time TBD

Game Rules:

  • Four 10-minute quarters
  • Eight-minute halftime
  • Two full timeouts; one 20-second timeout per half
  • Two one-minute mandatory TV timeouts per quarter on dead ball at 5:59 and again at 2:59
  • Two-minute overtime period if necessary
  • One full timeout and one 20-second timeout per overtime period
  • Teams will be in the penalty on the 7th team foul of each quarter
  • Teams will be in the penalty in overtime on the 2nd team foul
  • Players foul out on 10th personal foul
  • Ten-minute warm-up/Intermission between games
  • “Advance” Rule in place for last two minutes of game and overtime

How it is Scored:

A point system will establish the standings leading up to the final day, with eight points awarded each game based on: four points for winning the game and one point for winning a quarter (in the event of a tied quarter, each team will receive 0.5 points). In the event of ties in seeding heading into championship day, three tiebreakers will be in place: 1) total point differential; 2) total points allowed; 3) coin flip.
