Through eight games, it’s fair to say Chase Budinger hasn’t shot the ball he’d like to, or as efficiently as he can. The Pacers sent Damjan Rudež and his cheap contract to Minnesota over the summer in exchange for Budinger, who had missed extensive time in his three seasons with the Timberwolves due to injuries.

Budinger played in just 53 percent (131/246) of their games since 2012, primarily because of knee issues.

He got a clean bill of health, passed a physical, and was ready to get started with the Pacers. Then, he dealt with a hamstring injury in camp. He doesn’t blame that for his slow start. He’s dealt with this before, and says there’s no rhyme or season.

He’s not too worried about it, and has a shooter’s mentality to keep shooting.

Budinger, 27, is averaging 3.4 points, 2.0 points, and 1.0 assist in about 15 minutes of on-court time per game. His shot has been off, connecting on 9-of-24 (37.5) from the field and 6-of-17 (35.2) from downtown.
