Danny Granger to appear on NBA TV this weekend

Former Pacer Danny Granger will give broadcasting a try this weekend. Granger will be in Atlanta to serve as a guest analyst on NBA TV’s GameTime on Saturday and Sunday.

Danny Granger had some great years in Indy, and was the key guy during a down time for the franchise.

Granger will work alongside host Matt Winer, Mike Fratello and Rick Fox on Saturday, and Vince Cellini, Brent Barry and Fox on Sunday.

It’s too bad the network dropped Pacers vs Bucks from its schedule in favor of Washington at Detroit. It would have been fun to hear him discuss the Pacers’ season and their performance Saturday night.

Although Granger isn’t currently on an NBA roster, he’s still collecting a sizable paycheck: $2.2 million. He was traded from Phoenix to Detroit in the offseason and wasn’t healthy enough to play so the Pistons waived him to get down to 15 players, the league maximum.

It’s unclear if Granger, who also spent time with the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns, continues to play, although I would consider it likely. If a team is willing to bring him on, he’ll play.

Granger, 32, was drafted by the Pacers in 2005 and he spent eight and half seasons with the Blue & Gold. During a seasons where the Pacers had the league’s best record, Granger was traded to Philadelphia for Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen. Granger had been significant time with several knee and calf injures.

Mostly, Granger has his hands full with his kids.
