Beat the Throw: The self-discipline to work on your craft

In this week’s segment to beat the throw, we are talking self-discipline in honor of the NFL Lockout.

So many times, no matter your specialty, it is on YOU to get better.

I want to be a better broadcaster so I continue to do as many broadcasts as I can and work on my writing right here.

Dallas Clark wants to be a stronger, faster, and healthier tight-end, so he is putting work in at _____________________ (location withheld as a joke, because none of the Colts players will discuss their offseason training.)

Location disclosed or not, numerous players are voluntarily working out because they want to be better. Because they want to have a successful season. Because they realize their time in the NFL is short. And because it’s what they love to do.

Using your free time appropriately is a big x-factor. So often, time is wasted and people miss out on quality time to improve their skill. It is on the individual to make time and get after it—not only by taking advantages of opportunities but by making opportunities.

Another one of my favorite quotes is, “eighty percent of success is just showing up.”

So on this Monday, what are you doing to get better and advance in your craft?
