Beat the Throw: Using YouTube to showcase your work

After a brief hiatus, I am back with another installment of beat the throw.

This day in age, it is important to be up to date with products and services–especially those that can benefit you directly, like YouTube. The video host is perfect for those like myself, in the broadcasting industry.

In addition to a typical resume, and probably more importantly, a potential boss will want to see the type of work you do. It’s all great and dandy that you went to college, got a degree and were active on campus but the true question is whether you are comfortable in front of the camera, conversational, and would others want to watch you.

Well with YouTube, you can easily display your work, packages, interviews, audio and more on their site–for free! It doesn’t get much better than that.

In fact, many talents have been discovered on YouTube. Remember Ted Williams, the homeless man with the golden pipes? That’s another great aspect of YouTube. Not only can you share and show off your talents but others can find you.

I am very aware of what I put online because it is there forever. However I am very proud of my work, want to share it with others, and also show how I am improving personally–whether it be in an interview, tease or package.

I’m telling you, YouTube is an incredible beast when put to good use. For all you with talent and looking for a job, make a video of yourself doing whatever it is. You never know when you could beat the throw.
