Brad Keselowski fires off bold tweets on the declining IndyCar Series

Brad Keselowski isn't afraid to speak his mind on IndyCar despite his owner's passion.

NASCAR drivers are known for being loud and honest. Late Wednesday night, 27 year-old driver Brad Keselowski was very outspoken on twitter about the differences between NASCAR and IndyCar.

He believes IndyCar racing is no longer interesting and it has lost people’s attention. Admitting he was a big fan growing up, Keselowski also notes that the series needs more American drivers to drum up interest.

Keselowski drives the No. 2 Miller Lite for Penske Racing which is ironic considering his owners lives and dies by IndyCar. NASCAR is probably just a fun hobby and another income source.

Below are his tweets in order, including some responses to fans firing back at him.

I loved indycar racing since I was little, still do. The best measuring stick, is/has and always will be the desire of the best to compete.

Plain and simple, their is very little desire from drivers around the world to compete over there. And those that do, keep coming to NASCAR.

Regardless of the results of those who crossover (which hasn’t been pretty), this should be the key indicator. The best wanna race the best.

On IndyCar’s poor state…

sadly so. They Need American drivers. I like bernhard though. “@24Motorsports would u agree indy car is in a poor state then?

Keselowski agrees not that just because a NASCAR driver is popular, a la Dale Earnhardt Jr., doesn’t mean they are a great driver.

Very true, It’s one big piece of the pie though. @RACERmag Being massively popular does not make NASCAR produce the best drivers.

And don’t expect him to make the jump to IndyCar soon, primarily because the options aren’t there.

no opportunities for Americans. Yet another sign… “@tonytellez: why won’t you try to race an #IndyCar?#putyourmoneywhereyourmouthis

Attn. Indycar fans: I love ur racing & I love facts too. Facts r, indycar is not as competitive as NASCAR. Sorry if that hurts ur feelings.

On a happier note, at chase drivers dinner trying to convince dale Jr to log onto twitter. He’s almost there…I’d race wherever the best drivers are. @tiffy09854 given the chance would you have rathered race the Indy series than race NASCAR?

Very true. Only 1 race though @LewisFranck@keselowski Um, the Indy 500 is no walk in the park. No disrespect.”

It’s an empty bet. A quality ride is not available. No chance to win.@Indycar_Fan: bet you $5 million you can’t beat the 26 great drivers.

Thank u to those who get the point about indycar vs NASCAR. Not a question of which series is more fun to watch or do.

Or where the most money is. This whole feed is about where the best drivers are. A point that was brought up by indycar with 5 million bet.

I love indycar. Part of y I love driving for a legend like RP is the respect r his accomplishments in indycar. But I’m also a realist.

Keselowski’s average finish this season is 15.5 and to his credit, he has completed 98.1% of laps. He has wins at the STP 400, Good Sam RV Insurance 500 and Irwin Tools Night Race. As for the big name races–he finished 29th at Daytona, 19th in the Coca-Cola 400, 15th in the Coke Zero 400, and 9th in the Brickyard 400.

Those were an informative yet bold series of tweets from an average driver. I’m sure this will catch further media attention and will not necessarily go over well with owner Roger Penske.

Agree, disagree?
