Troubling mistakes cost Colts in San Deigo — not players looking ahead to Peyton’s return

Stop it. Just stop it. Don’t even meddle in the conversation.

Yes, everyone in Indiana and football fans around the world have been anticipating this coming Sunday’s game since the NFL schedule was released months ago. But not for a minute am I buying that the primary (on contributing) reason the Colts played poorly in San Diego on Monday night and lost to the Chargers …

Indianapolis a finalist to host Super Bowl LII

Indianapolis hosting another Super Bowl is a real possibility. Indy, along with Minneapolis and New Orleans, were named the three finalists to host Super Bowl LII in 2018, the Indiana Sports Corp announced Tuesday afternoon.

The NFL owners gave the above cities their blessing to go ahead and propose an official bid, which is expected to be voted on during league meetings in May.

Caption This: NFL referee Jeff Triplette cops a feel of Colts QB Chandler Harnish

During the Colts first preseason game of the 2013-14 season, NFL referee Jeff Triplette’s hand got caught between Chandler Harnish’s thighs. It’s an unfortunate incident for Triplette that was caught by the local WNDY broadcast. He was just trying to give Harnish a pat on the rear end after helping him up. Instead, things got awkward.

Triplette (No. 42), a retired Army Reserve colonel, has …

Colts preseason No. 1 vs. Buffalo – five things to watch

Ah, football season is here.

NFL players have been hitting one another for the better half of the last two weeks. Finally — and that’s what every player will tell you — the Colts get to hit someone else. As the Colts host the Buffalo Bills to Lucas Oil Stadium (1:30 p.m., WNDY), it’ll be exactly 30 years to the date since the Colts played …

Reggie Wayne arrives in Anderson for Colts camp via LifeLine helicopter

Saturday is move in day for the Colts but the highlight, as always, is the entrance of Reggie Wayne. Each year, he arrives to training camp in a memorable fashion. One year it was in a cab with Edgerrin James, another year he showed up as a construction worker saying “work in progress.” Last year was quite spectacular, in a humvee while wearing Army fatigue …

Peyton back on the field for a game — in a Broncos uniform

Peyton Manning will put on his pads, jersey and helmet tonight for his first game in 579 days. The jersey will still be No. 18, but it will be a Broncos jersey.

Man, this is going to be wierd.

Manning inflicted greatness on the Colts for his 13 seasons in the league. This last year has been adventurous, to say the least, for Manning.

He …

Colts plug a few gaps in 2012 draft, but still a long ways to go

The Colts headed into the 2012 NFL Draft with a lot on their wish-list. You name a position, they had a void to fill there. Quarterback, tight end, offensive line, defensive line, the secondary.

After seven rounds and ten picks, they were able to plug a few gaps. But there’s still a long way to go.

We’ve known for months Luck was going to be …

Colts Should Take Serious Look at Justin Blackmon

No, not with the first pick. The Colts (correctly so) will announce Andrew Luck’s name around 8:15 Thursday night to become the new franchise quarterback.

But the Colts are in a unique position. Reggie Wayne is a grizzled veteran, and outside of him the Colts don’t have much to offer Luck at the wide receiving position. So why not give him a top flight wide …
