David Morway resurfaces with the Jazz

Former Pacers executive David Morway is back in the NBA. Morway joined the Utah Jazz, league sources confirmed to VigilantSports.com.

The news first quietly appeared in Lee Jenkins’ latest feature for Sports Illustrated on rising star Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Morway serves as a consultant, per a team spokesman.

I had already referred to the Utah Jazz as Indy West, with Indy natives Gordon Hayward, George Hill, and Trey Lyles on their roster, plus Shelvin Mack out of Butler. The addition of Morway to the staff means another familiar face from Indy is working in Salt Lake City.

Previously, Morway was the assistant general manager for the Milwaukee Bucks, a role he was let go from during the 2015 offseason. Since then, Morway reportedly interviewed for the Sacramento Kings GM job.

Morway spent over 13 years in Indianapolis, joining the Pacers’ front office as the first of the year in 1999 at the Vice President of Business Administration. Years later, in April of 2008, he was promoted to General Manager, a role he held for a little more than four years.

He resigned from that post on June 26, 2012.
