Larry Bird to represent Pacers at 2015 NBA Draft Lottery

Larry Bird, the Pacers President of Basketball Operations, plans to represent the franchise on stage at the 2015 NBA Draft Lottery, a team spokesman told VigilantSports.com.

The 2015 Draft Lottery will decide what pick the Pacers' have on June 25th.

The 2015 Draft Lottery will decide what pick the Pacers have on June 25th.

The lottery will be held in New York on May 19 (8:30 pm ET, ESPN) to determine the draft’s first 14 picks. Because both the Pacers and Utah Jazz finished with a 38-44 record, a tiebreaker took place on April 17th and the Pacers came out on top.

Therefore, the Pacers’ odds improved slightly to have a better pick. They have the 11th-best odds win the lottery (0.8 percent) and a 2.9 percent chance to land in the top three. Otherwise, they’ll almost certainly have the No. 11 pick.

Minnesota has the best odds to earn the coveted No.1 pick (25 percent), followed by New York (19.9), and Philadelphia (15.6).

In 2010, the last time the Pacers were in the lottery, forward Danny Granger represented the franchise on stage. The Pacers were slotted in 10th and later drafted the current face of the franchise, Paul George, out of Freso State at No. 10.

David Benner, the Pacers’ longtime Director of Media Relations, plans to be in the lottery room.

The 2015 NBA Draft will be held on June 25th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York for the third consecutive year. It’s slated to begin at 7 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN.

Pacers brass, scouts, and select members of the training staff will be in Chicago this week for the annual NBA Draft Combine.

The majority of the top prospects will arrive in The Windy City on Tuesday and be there through the weekend. Thursday and Friday, May 14th and 15th, players will be on court for testing, five-on-five games, and drills. That’s what immediately comes to mind when folks think about the combine.

But it’s much more than that.

There’s interviews with front office personnel, thorough medical testing, and well-being evaluations with team psychologists.

There are 62 prospects invited and expected to attend. There were 59 participants in 2014, 63 in 2013, and 61 in 2012, according to DraftExpress.com. The full list provided by the NBA can be seen below.
