NFL Lockout – Is it over yet?

The NFL lockout is like a bad car ride. You know you will eventually reach the destination but there are pit stops, passengers rotating seats and bumps in the road.

Are we there yet?

This ordeal has gone on long enough. NFL fans honestly don’t care what the players and owners each get–they just want some football come this fall. It is not good for the league to have negatives news about the NFL every night and no real updates. It seems like the representatives of the players and owners have met dozens of times yet little progress, at least to those on the outside looking in.

Otherwise, early games will be put in jeopardy, but things are improving according to numerous reports.

Adam Schefter is saying that the two sides agreed in principle on a rookie pay scale, one of the key sticking points. Other issues include player safety, an 18 game schedule, HGH testing, and worker’s compensation.

Both sides understand the necessity of getting a deal in place. Otherwise, big money will be lost each way.

This week top quarterbacks Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Drew Brees spoke out saying the time has come for a resolution. And when they talk, everyone has listened because they demand attention.

Enough is enough. Please, let the end be in sight.

The whole ordeal has turned a hardcore NFL fan to wannabe lawyers. After all, we don’t understand the language. Football has never been more popular and so the league must ride the momentum. It’s foolish for the sides not to get something done and done soon. All of their issues are worthy but like Jim Irsay has said multiple times, this thing isn’t that hard to get done. He and Jeff Saturday could get it done over some brews at Rick’s Boatyard.

It does appear the end is in sight, with an agreement solidified within a week. We can only hope. I don’t think I can watch anymore highlights of owners and players walking into the meeting locations.

The fans deserve a full season and the players to be taken care of. And hopefully by the end of next week, only one professional sports league will be in a lockout–and it’s not the NFL.

This ride is taking forever…
