Pacers 2016 Pre-Draft Workouts: Thon Maker

7-footer Thon Maker is one of the more intriguing prospects in the upcoming 2016 NBA Draft. He’s got the size, a lot of natural talent, and it would be surprising if he doesn’t hear his name called in the first-round of the draft, held June 23rd in Brooklyn.

Maker, who’s from the Sudan, is just 19 and did not play one game in college. Therefore, NBA executives are depending on tape against weaker competition, and then what he showed at the Draft Combine and individual workouts to evaluate his talent and what he might be able to do in their league.

The Pacers hosted Maker, one of six prospects, to Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Wednesday. League executives have told him that they envision him playing power forward. He has to improve his post defense, rebounding, plus add weight — obviously. Maker says he sees his game resembling Kevin Garnett.

It might be a reach for the Pacers at No. 20, or not. He’s got a lot of talent and has only been playing basketball since he was 13.
