Pacers Last Week: Sept. 4 — PS&E donates, Oladipo releases hit, Bogdanovic helps Croatia to 3-0

A lot happens each week with the Pacers and it’s not easy to stay on top of it. Introducing a new weekly feature, Pacers Last Week, which should help keep you up-to-date on all things Pacers.

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day Weekend. Training camp begins in just three (!!!) weeks.

  • The Pacers, Fever, and Pacers guard Joe Young donated $20,000 to relief for Hurricane Harvey down in Texas. Young was born in Houston and spends much of his offseason there. Pacers Sports & Entertainment also donated $5,000 to the Indiana chapter of the American Red Cross, and $7,500 to the Mayor’s Relief Fund.
  • The annual telethon benefitting the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital was held and PS&E donated $6,000. Glenn Robinson III answered calls for an hour. More than $350,000 was raised in all.
  • Westgate Casino in Las Vegas set the over/under for wins this season with the Pacers at 31.5.
  • Lance Stephenson published another song — this one titled “Better Believe It.”
  • The next day, Victor Oladipo released his first song and killed it. It’s “A Song For You,” a cover of Donny Hathaway’s original.
  • The Los Angeles Lakers were found guilty of tampering with Paul George, and were fined $500,000 by the NBA following an independent investigation. But that’s it. No draft picks lost, and they can still sign PG next summer.
  • Head athletic trainer Josh Corbeil completed the Rugged Maniac over the weekend with Tamika Catchings — and they’ve already signed up for next year. As part of the race, Corbeil raised $1,900 for the Greenwood Public Library. Read more of his story here in the Daily Journal.
  • Playing in FIBA EuroBasket 2017, Pacers newcomer Bojan Bogdanovic has helped Croatia advance to the Round of 16. They’ve won their first three games at a major tournament for the first time since FIBA EuroBasket 1995. They defeated Hungrary (67-58), Romania (74-58), and Montenegro (76-72), and play Spain on Tuesday.
