Pacers straighten out cap, have Monta Ellis re-sign

Monta Ellis signed with the team and met with local reporters last Tuesday.

After a minor problem with the submission of free-agent contracts, the Pacers have gotten things in order.

Last Friday, the great Zach Lowe of Grantland reported the following:

That news item had many fans worried about what it meant for the Pacers and the signing of Ellis. No reason to fear, folks.

Ellis originally inked his four-year, $44 million contract with the Pacers on Tuesday while in town. Because of the issue, however, Ellis had to complete the paperwork a second time, which he did Thursday evening, a source informed VigilantSports.com.

The Pacers may have corrected the error by renouncing the rights of former players in a specific order, as pointed out by Tim Donahue of 8points9seconds.com.

Rodney Stuckey is planning to be in town on Tuesday, just days after tying the knot, to re-up with the team. (He agreed to a three-year, $21 million deal.)

Shayne Whittington still has not signed on the dotted line, nor has Lavoy Allen. Allen should be the last one to sign, as the the team has his Bird Rights, which allows teams to exceed the cap in order to re-sign their own free agents.

The salary cap for the 2015-16 season is set at $70 million and the tax level increased by 10.3 percent over last season to $84.740 million.

Ellis has not been a good sign for the pacers so far as he has not able to score consistently. However, it is still early.
