Pacers uniforms to include commemorative patch in franchise’s 50th season

This upcoming season is an important one for Pacers Sports & Entertainment (PS&E) and not just because it is the next season.

The 2016-17 season will be the franchise’s 50th. They were founded all the way back in 1967 and then won three ABA titles — 1970, 1972, 1973 — before joining the NBA in 1976.

For the Pacers, next season is about looking back and enjoying what got them to today.

“Our 50th season of professional basketball presents a tremendous opportunity to salute the players, coaches, owners and people who have represented the Pacers for the past half century as well as to underscore the franchise’s historic role in Indianapolis and Indiana sports,” PS&E President Rick Fuson said in a statement.

Over the next 10 months or so, you will see the franchise celebrate its history, its ABA titles, and what it has meant to Indianapolis.

During the season-long celebration, team uniforms will feature a commemorative patch with the special logo seen above, which will also appear on merchandise and in their marketing efforts.

The following season, 2017-18, is expected to bring a new look for the organization and be about slingshotting into the next half century.
