Pacers unveiling new look Friday at River West StreetFest

Pacers Logo, Pacers

The Pacers will unveil their new look on Friday at a streetfest that was announced to the public just two days ahead of time.

From 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, the Pacers are hosting what they are describing as an “interactive community basketball event,” in the parking lot of The Kinney Group. It’s located west of the downtown area (2425 W. Michigan St.).

What you can expect at the streetfest:

  • Team unveiling its new look around 7:00 pm
  • Play games on the Pacers’ new court, a darker hardwood
  • Performances by the new 2017-18 Pacemates squad, which was finalized on Wednesday.
  • DJ BandCamp proving the music
  • Food trucks
  • Special guests on hand

This follows what Pacers Sports & Entertainment did three weeks ago up in Fort Wayne with their G League team. At a local parade, the Mad Ants introduced a new color scheme, swapping navy blue with maroon to match the Pacers’ official colors. They will be getting new uniforms for the 2017-18 season.

I will be at streetfest and plan to Periscope the important moments. (Follow along on Twitter)

Already this week, the Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder have introduced their new uniforms for next season. Nike will soon over as the official uniform and apparel provider from Adidas.

High-level employees will be in attendance, so it is worth your time if you are a big Pacers fan.

There is a conflict, however, within the organization. As they entertain fans at this streetfest, the Fever have a home game three miles away at Bankers Life Fieldhouse against the New York Liberty at 7:00 pm.

Beginning this summer, the Pacers have a new secondary logo:

Remember this logo from center court? It has become their “global logo.”

And the primary logo, which is at center court of both floors at the St. Vincent Center, and at BLF:

The grand opening for the St. Vincent Center has been pushed back to August. Hanging on the south end of the floors will be the banners in the rafters of Bankers Life Fieldhouse — for Central Division Championships, Eastern Conference Championships, and retired numbers.

“WE ARE ONE” is painted in bold letters on the east end, between the two levels.
