Last year, the two-time All-Star held his first basketball camp in the area where he earns a living after previously having one back home on the West Coast, in Los Angeles.

“Just a matter of time,” George said last year of having a camp in Indy. “I thought being in L.A. was a practice for us to understand how to run a camp so I’m excited to do it here.”

The Palmdale, California native has split time this summer between Indy and L.A. He told me earlier this month he still was not 100 percent recovered from a left calf strain suffered in the final game of the regular season. But he’s making steady progress.

George, now a father, is terrific around kids and fans alike. At his camp, young hoopers can expect to learn the fundamentals of the game and receive instruction from one of the best players in the NBA.

“They’ll see me, for sure,” George said. “What I do at my camps in L.A., I’m almost there from the time that the campers are there to the time the parents are there to pick them up. I won’t be the one directly working them out and putting them through drills, but I will be there instructing, helping and when it’s time for breaks, just playing around and having fun with the kids.”

With the Pacers failing to make the playoffs for the first time in his five-year career, George has been particularly busy off the court. Follow what he’s done in the stories below.
