Paul George names new pit bull after Kobe

Paul George has added to his family. He has gotten his second dog … and decided to name it Kobe after well, you know.

“Out of respect of the mamba it’s only right to name him KOBE! #Legend” George wrote in an Instagram post late Tuesday night. Because Kobe retired this season after 20 years in the NBA, George talked extensively about his relationship with Kobe and how much he meant to him growing up as a Cali kid.

“One day I’m going to be like him,” George said years ago.

George shared a stage with Kobe just a few weeks ago when they were announced to be on the covers of the upcoming NBA2K17 video game — PG for the Standard Edition, Kobe for the Legends Edition. Both are due out this fall.

NBA2K has selected Paul George to be on the cover for its 2017 Standard Edition.

George’s two-year-old daughter, Olivia, is in the video announcing the new addition to the family.

George’s other dog, King, got a lot of attention over a year and a half ago when it was the first one to guard George on the basketball court after the leg injury.

When ya mans want that one on one #GodSpeed
