Reggie Miller elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame

It’s Miller time!

The face of the Indiana Pacers and five-time All Star has been elected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

This was the second year Reggie Miller was eligible, needing at least 18 of 24 votes to get in. Last year he wasn’t one of the finalists.

“It’s a humbling experience, obviously,” he said during the announcement in New Orleans. “To be part of this exclusive club is special. It’s a proud day for me.”

Reggie is the second Pacers player voted into the hall. Mel Daniels became the first ABA player elected in last month and will be inducted at the same ceremony.

(It’s still a scam that Bobby ‘Slick’ Leonard isn’t in there. As a player, coach and broadcaster.)

The enshrinement ceremony will be on Friday, Sept. 7th in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Boom Baby!

I do wonder who will present Uncle Reg. His sister, Cheryl? Larry Bird? Donnie Walsh?

Reggie and Cheryl become the first brother-sister combo in the Hall of Fame.

For his career, Reggie averaged 18.2 points per game and shot 40-percent from outside. He is second all-time in three-pointers made behind Ray Allen.

He was also one of the best free throw shooters in the game. Reggie shot was 89-percent from the line over his career and went 93-percent in his final season, 2004-05.

Miller was drafted 11th in the 1987 draft by the Indiana Pacers and remained a Pacer for life — playing all 18 seasons for the blue and gold. He was also part of the 1996 Olympic team that won a gold medal.

He currently serves as a NBA commentator and analyst for TNT.

Well deserved, No. 31.

As a long time basketball fan my first instinct was to say that he probably didn’t deserve to be in…

That was before I looked at his career numbers.

Definitely a hall of famer, longevity, class, and stats…

He could have got in based on making more threes than every player in NBA history besides one other player…

18.2 points per game against the most talented players in any era.

    Kudos
