Lilly King answers Reggie Miller’s request, plans to meet him at Monday’s Pacers game

Hall of Fame basketball player Reggie Miller wants to meet Lilly King, the sophomore at Indiana University who won two gold medals for the United States in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

King became an Olympic favorite for not backing down to Russia’s Yulia Efimova, who had previously been caught doping. Not only did King stand up to her, but she beat her in the 100 breaststroke.

“I was Lilly King before Lilly King,” Miller said when guest hosting the Dan Patrick Show in August.

Miller, who played 18 seasons with the Indiana Pacers, will be back in Indianapolis on Monday for the TNT telecast, alongside Marv Albert and Grant Hill, of the Pacers and New York Knicks (8:00 pm ET). While in town, he’d like to meet the Evansville native.

King will be in attendance, a source informed VigilantSports.com Wednesday afternoon. Despite being offered a pair of tickets by Miller, King must purchase a ticket on her own in order to be compliant with NCAA rules.

King, won a gold medal in the 100 breaststroke with an Olympic Record time of 1:04.93. She later earned another gold as a member of the 4×100 medley relay team.

And during the Olympics, Miller, like thousands more in the U.S., started following King on Twitter.

“I don’t know if you know who that is but it’s a pretty big deal for me,” King told reporters, laughing. She’s a huge fan of 31.
