Rejected: After two rounds, I am not fit to be Charlie Sheen’s intern

Formerly the highest paid actor in television, Charlie Sheen is searching for a social media intern. After Two and a Half Men was cancelled due to his “conduct detrimental to the show” as I want to call it, Sheen is on to new ventures.

He’s now on twitter, selling shirts and created a community full of people #winning. (It’s hashtag on twitter that has become a phenomenon).

Because the social media internship is a chance of a lifetime and would be a total blast, I applied. Why not, #winning would make for a special summer. However, the chances were very slim…over 75,000 applications were reportedly received.

The application was finishing the sentence: “I’d be a good Social Media Intern because” (in 75 characters or less).

Then it was on to the next round where more personal information was gathered including address, school, previous experience, and links to my social media sites like twitter, LinkedIN and my website. Check.

In the second round, the Charlie Sheen internship sought out more previous job history and asked a couple of questions (none of which I can remember).

Sunday, I received an email indicating that I did not make to the next round. Maybe I had too much experience. Maybe I don’t win 24/7. Or maybe I’m just not a porn star. We all know Charlie has a special affection for those.

The next round requests a resume. Then a software program seeks out keywords in the applicant’s resume to narrow the field down to 50. From those 50, one #winner will be selected to be Sheen’s social media intern this summer.

The concept is interesting and hopefully a well-qualified person is selected because he or she could do wonders for Sheen while gaining experience like none other.

It was worth a shot, so I applied and continued down the process. The chances were slim and I assume he will pick a female, conveniently of course.

I never pass on a chance…because a chance is all you need to have the possibility to do something special.

After all, 80 percent of success is just showing up, or making the extra effort!
