Several Pacers still in town, working out at The Fieldhouse

The Pacers’ season ended just over a month ago and a number of players have remained in town for workouts and treatment.

At Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Monday, George Hill, Luis Scola, Chris Copeland, and Shayne Whittington were in the building. Hill, sporting his new blonde look, worked out on the main floor after the team’s workout with prospects concluded.

Roy Hibbert, who has a decision to make regarding his player option for next season, typically is in Indianapolis for much of the offseason. He said last week, however, that he intends to spend his summer in Los Angeles.

I spoke with Copeland, who will be a free agent in July, for about five minutes while the potential draftees were shooting free throws. He is doing well, feeling better, and working out often.

As most team officials and basketball staff were in Chicago last week for the combine and meetings (ex. general manager, equipment manager meetings), Copeland worked out with former Pacers big man David Harrison.

On another note, I continue to hear that Scola, also a free agent, has been working out frequently at the Fieldhouse, “more than anyone,” a team source said. Scola, 35, was the oldest player on the team but still looks like he has a few more solid, productive years in him. And he has no intentions of retiring anytime soon.
