Southwest Airlines becomes the official airline of the Indiana Pacers.

The Indiana Pacers’ major announcement on Wednesday was that they now have a partnership with Southwest Airlines. As part of the deal, Southwest Airlines becomes the official airline of the team. It was announced in the Entry Pavilion at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

As part of the deal, Southwest branding will be seen throughout the Fieldhouse. There will also be digital features, and spots will air on Pacers broadcasts because they are also partners with FOX Sports Indiana.

Pacers Sports & Entertainment President and COO Rick Fuson, who’s beginning his 33rd season with the franchise, was excited about the partnership.

“It’s very fitting that as we begin a season-long celebration of 50 years of Pacers basketball and history with Opening Night this evening, we gather today to begin a new era with our friends from Southwest Airlines,” he said. “This is a remarkable day in so many ways, and we are so proud to associate our organization with this great airline.”

Southwest began service to Indianapolis more than 25 years ago and offers nearly 40 daily nonstop flights to 17 destinations including top business destinations like Washington Reagan (DCA), Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago Midway, and Dallas Love Field.

The team, however, travels via a Delta charter.
