New Pacers season, new expectations

Just a week into training camp, the Pacers’ first preseason game is already here.

There wasn’t much of an offseason due to a long playoff run, the team’s free agency moves, Paul George and USA Basketball, a few players playing in the FIBA World Cup; shortly thereafter, players had found their way back to Indianapolis for training camp.

And just as the current team has a different story, so do I.

If you hadn’t noticed by now, all of my Pacers work is now here. I plan to continue to cover the team as much as I possibly can, but not like the past two years. It was my life, dedicated to every little move on the team and within the organization. No longer.

Whatever I do, I put everything into it. That means I simply won’t be able to make it to every practice or every charity event because I’ll have to attend another college or high school team’s practice or I’ll have a conference call with a coach for an upcoming broadcast.

I have broadcasting gigs lined up, some which have already started and others that will begin within the next month or so. I’ll cover the beat as best I can and provide the nitty-gritty details and observations that you’ve come to expect.

Remember, it’s the “Year of Discovery.” So much about this Pacers team intrigues me, and I do believe they’ll do better than most are predicting. So many questions, though, remain unanswered.

I appreciate the support out there, the loyal readers and my Twitter followers. Don’t hesitate to tweet me, or send me an email if you’re having trouble with 140-character limit.

Let the games begin.
