Victor Oladipo voted Backbone Award winner by teammates

Victor Oladipo has been a member of the Indiana Pacers for less than a year but his impact has already proven to be significant. And that extends off the court, and into the locker room.

Oladipo earned the Backbone Award (previously known as the Teammate of the Year award) by his Pacers teammates. Each team nominated a winner for the award, which was “Dedicated to the players that are the heart & soul of their team, he brings 100% to his squad!”

“It’s definitely a blessing coming from my teammates,” Oladipo said in an interview with Jordan Brand. “It takes a team to do something special. I thank them for the award and for considering me the backbone.”

The award was one of 12 votes on by the players for the third annual The Players Voice Awards organized by the National Basketball Players Association.

Ian Mahinmi and Al Jefferson won the Teammate of the Year award in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
