Add Lavoy Allen to the list of Pacers players to suffer injuries during this 2014-15 campaign. It’s crazy, borderline ridiculous what the Pacers have had to deal with.
After jumping in the air, Allen came down late in the second quarter of the team’s 103-82 blowout win over the New York Knicks, and immediately asked to be taken out. After an evaluation at intermission, he was ruled out for the second half with a sore right knee.
The Pacers’ reserve big man was playing very well, too. In less than 10 minutes off the bench, he scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds.
Prior to Saturday’s game against the Sacramento Kings, head coach Frank Vogel touched on Allen’s injury.
“He’s going to be out for a little while,” Vogel said. “We know he’s out at least these two games and hopefully it’ll be minimal.”
Allen had an MRI taken on Friday, the day after the injury occurred, and it revealed a strain.
“It’s a strain, not a tear,” coach said.
Well, technically a strain is a tear, as Indianapolis’ resident injury expert Will Carroll frequently tweets. Seriously. Just search “a strain is a tear” and you realize he should copyright that phrase.
LaVoy Allen (@chefVOYardee) out with what Pacers calling strained knee after MRI. Indicates tendon, likely jumper's knee, as @KingJames had.

What Allen is likely dealing with is a very slight tear that they’re hoping will heal quickly. For now, Allen joins Paul George on the injury report.
