It took four games for Paul George to finally jam one through, but he did so Sunday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse as the Pacers defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder, 116-104. With just under a minute to play in the first quarter, Rodney Stuckey stole the ball away and through it ahead to George, who had had clear lane ahead.
“It was good to get one down,” George said at his locker after the win. “And then that kind of made me more comfortable within the game. I thought with all emotions and everything, I was just too riled up and that dunk evened everything out.”
The dunk makes up for his mishap one week ago, an embarrassing moment — but one he gladly had because it meant he was back on the floor.
PG also banked in this 3-pointer from straight on to end the third period and put the Pacers up by six.
“Not surprised [it went in,]” he said smiling. “I got the ball with enough air space to knock the shot down. I shoot it with confidence every time.”
George also had a two-handed flush early second quarter on a rebound. He landed on his left leg after both dunks, but said he wasn’t thinking about it after either dunk.
