Off the bench, Turner was on the floor just one minute and 19 seconds. After the injury occurred, Turner fouled so he could check out and then he went straight to the locker room.
The Pacers (5-4) will obviously be cautious with the 19-year-old, who also has a few bumps and bruises. Because of those, he was kept to a maximum of 20 minutes per game.
Turner reached double figures twice, and has averaged 6.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game. He has made better than 55 percent of his field goals, 21-of-38.
The time away from the court will allow him to absorb more about the pro game, concentrate on other skills, and also advance his mind in film study.
The team’s medical staff is still deciding the next steps for his recovery. Should he sit out four weeks, Turner perhaps could return on Friday, Dec. 11 against the Miami Heat in a game that will air on ESPN.
With Turner missing about a month, starter Ian Mahinmi, Jordan Hill, and even Lavoy Allen can expect to receive additional playing time.
Vogel talked about Myles Turner: "The kid just works so hard and was really growing every day… He'll definitely be missed while he's out."
