While most on the Pacers enjoyed a day off — or, a quiet day at the least on Thursday — Pacers newcomer Ty Lawson planned to fly out of state.
The 28-year-old’s passport has expired and he needed to get a new one soon with a game on April 8th across the border circled. What doesn’t make sense is that the Rockets, his former team, played in Toronto on Sunday … so up until March 1, when he was waived, he would’ve needed an active passport this week.
“Trying to expedite it. One-day process,” he explained. Just a quick trip to Chicago to complete the process. “It’s expired so I’m just getting it renewed.”

Lawson is day-to-day after sustaining a left foot sprain in his debut with the team on Monday, a 99-91 win over the San Antonio Spurs. He did not go through practice on Tuesday or Wednesday.
