Ben Bentil has made his decision. He’s keeping his name in for the 2016 NBA Draft.
The 6-foot-8 forward out of Providence finalized his decision Sunday night, and then worked out for the Pacers on Monday. Bentil will be represented by Ron Shade of Octagon.
“After going through all the other workouts and the combine, I thought about it and I think it’s the best decision for me and my family,” Bentil told me.
Bentil estimates that his workout with the Pacers was his sixth, with Denver up next.
Bentil’s numbers skyrocketed from his freshman to sophomore season. He went from 6.4 points per game to 21.1, and 4.9 rebounds to 7.7. He shot 46.2 percent from the floor and stretched his game out to the 3-point line, averaging over four attempts (and two makes) from range per game.
One of his best games last season came in the Big East Tournament quarterfinals. He poured in 38 points in 40 minutes in a win over Butler.
Providence later lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to No. 1 UNC, 85-66.
