Pacers 2017 Pre-Draft Workouts: Bryce Alford, UCLA

He didn’t grow up in Indiana, but he was born here. And, as long as he’s in basketball, his ties to the basketball state will be discussed.

Bryce Alford, son of Indiana Hall of Fame Steve Alford, the 1983 Indiana Mr. Basketball winner, completed his second pre-draft workout on Monday. His first was before the Draft Combine for the Clippers in Los Angeles, nearby where he played at UCLA.

“Obviously this place has a special plan in my heart,” Alford said. He talked with local reporters for more than eight minutes.

Alford expects to now go on what he called “the circuit,” making stops in “six to seven” more cities for workouts. The first thing, the primary thing teams are surely playing close attention to is his shot. For him to make it in the NBA, his long ball must go down with great efficient.

At 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard, he played point guard for his first three years at UCLA. Then, Lonzo Ball joined the roster and he slid over to shooting guard.

Although his per game averages dropped (15.5 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game), he shot a career-best 43 percent from beyond the arc. He connected on 116 of 270, averaging more than three makes per game.

The Bruins went 31-5, losing in the Regional Semifinal to Kentucky.
