Former Pacers center Shayne Whittington has signed a one-year deal to play in Russia next season. B.C. Zenit Saint Petersburg announced the signing last week.

After two seasons with the Pacers (2014-16), the 26-year-old played in Spain for Obradoiro CAB last season. He averaged 11.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and was named player of the week numerous times.
Earlier this month, Whittington played in the Utah and Las Vegas Summer Leagues as a member of the San Antonio Spurs. Whittington impressed in those games, and stood out by making the hustle plays.
As a starter in Vegas, Whittington averaged 10.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in just over 22 minutes per contest. And, he shot 58.8 percent from the floor.
Whittington spends the offseason in Carmel and trains with Rob Blackwell and Jason Smeathers of St. Vincent Sports Performance.
