Rakeem Christmas will continue his professional basketball career overseas next season.
Christmas, who the Pacers acquired in a trade with Cleveland in 2015, has signed with Galatasaray Odeabank in Istanbul, Turkey, the team announced on Thursday.
Christmas was waived by the Pacers on July 6th before his salary, which would’ve paid him more than $1 million, for the 2017-18 season became guaranteed. His opportunity to stand out during summer league play was limited due to a left ankle sprain. To date, he still is rehabbing that injury.
“New Chapter The Journey Continues 🇹🇷… #Blessed,” Christmas wrote in an Instagram post.

Over the last two seasons, Christmas appeared in just 30 games with the Pacers. During his short stints, he averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. The 25-year-old forward spent most of his rookie season in Fort Wayne with the Mad Ants of the G League.
