Update: 11:36 am Saturday:
Just before media availability following Saturday’s morning practice, the Pacers announced that Glenn Robinson III would be sidelined for approximately eight weeks due a left high ankle sprain.
Glenn Robinson III sustained a left ankle sprain but X-rays were negative, a source told VigilantSports.com.
The fourth-year wing went down during Friday’s practice and needed assistance getting off the practice court at the St. Vincent Center.
The Pacers’ listed his injury as a lower left leg injury before the X-rays were taken. The team does not plan to update his status until Saturday, when they are scheduled to hold their third and final set of two-a-day practices.
“He went up to attack the basket and one of our guys went up to contest the show and came down on his leg,” McMillan said after Friday’s practice (via @Pacers). “Lower-leg injury. We really don’t know exaclty what all has happened.”
Robinson III, one of six returning players, is in the regular rotation and figures to be the backup wing behind newcomer Bojan Bogdanovic.
“I’m trying to be the best player that I can be, and the best for me and my family,” Robinson III said Thursday. “I’ve played this game just like everybody else – I want to be the best at it and be the best I can be. Since I’ve gotten here, I’ve always had to prove myself. It’s just another year of that, and I don’t mind that. That’s what I’ve always done.
“Being back here in the swing of things, it feels right. Every day I’m just trying to get better, getting in here to get extra work, getting the reps up and everybody being together as a team.”
Robinson III averaged 6.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game last season playing more than 20 minutes a game. He started in 27 of 69 games. A sore left calf sidelined him for 11 games.
