Myles Turner diagnosed with ligament and muscle strain in right elbow, listed as week-to-week

Myles Turner’s sore right elbow has been diagnosed as a ligament sprain and muscle strain, the Pacers announced Monday. He has been ruled out for the team’s five-game road trip and is listed as week-to-week.

Best of all, surgery is not required.

Turner sustained this right elbow injury one week ago on a one-handed jam minutes into their win over Milwaukee. He was clearly bothered by it for the rest of the game.

“It was tough but you got to push yourself through it,” Turner said after the game. “I knew my team needed me out there. Domas [Domantas Sabonis], obviously, is a great fill in that void because he plays the game so well. It’s going to take a little bit more than that to keep me out.”

Sabonis, who started 66 of 81 games last year as a rookie in Oklahoma City, has been strong in the meantime averaging 11.3 points and 12.3 rebounds per game in Turner’s absence.

Myles is with the team for their road trip and will continue to wear a brace on his right arm. He began wearing it last Wednesday as he sat out the team’s 114-106 home loss to Miami.

The Pacers (23-20) are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference and have won four of their last five games.
