2011 NFL Combine invades Indianapolis

The NFL combine is going on right now in Indianapolis, attracting a who’s who of NFL teams, coaches and media to Lucas Oil Stadium. The event has taken place in Indianapolis for dozens of years, beginning in 1987 because of the central location, indoor stadium and Hoosier hospitality.

I was fortunate in meeting a well-known writer to chat for a while this afternoon—more on that later. While at the stadium for a short time, I ran into local media, SI’s Peter King, ESPN’s John Clayton, Mike Holmgren, and my guy Bob Kravitz from the Indianapolis Star.

The media gathered in Indianapolis to talk to the invited draft prospects who are working out at the combine. The media interviews took place in the lower club level on the east side of the stadium. Indiana’s Tandon Doss, Terrance Turner and James Brewer are the three IU players here this weekend.

I was not thinking ahead this year when the combine came to town. I unfortunately forgot to apply for a credential. Definitely a mistake I won’t make next year.

IU Sport Com’s Cody Sharrett, who I’ve called a IU basketball game with, talked to ESPN’s Todd McShay about Tandon Doss.
