The golden rules of twitter and how to use it properly

Twitter is a booming social media site that has emerged as a top news source in the last year. The simple and short media service launched July 15, 2006 but it is finally catching on.

A twitter feed allows users to post thoughts up to 140 characters and follow those of interest. I have been a member since February 15, 2009. So going on almost two years, I continue to utilize the feed more and more each day.

If you follow the right people, you will get above and beyond the information you are looking for. I especially enjoy when those I follow post articles or blogs that are worth reading and that I may have not found on my own. It’s amazing the stuff I come across and learn.

CNBC’s SportsBiz expert Darren Rovell recently wrote an article touching on his “13 Golden Rules of Twitter.” Boasting over 50,000 followers, Rovell provides a unique perspective and knows what he is doing.

Below are his 13 golden rules but I suggest you go more in depth and read his post.

1. You don’t have a 140 characters, you have 120 at the most
