Frank Vogel, Indiana Pacers head coach.
His new title is finally official.
He had already won over the players in the locker room, leading the Pacers to their first playoff appearance in five years. Two months after the season had ended, Vogel finally won over Pacers President Larry Bird.
Because I work for the Pacers, I cannot say much at all. But because of my personal relationship with Vogel, I am extremely happy he got the job.
Take basketball out of it. He is a great person and connects well with management, players and staff. Vogel and long-time assistant Dan Burke represent this team and this city well and with integrity.
Vogel, 38, has a real passion for coaching and the game, both evident in his news conference. His excitement and positive attitude will hopefully rub off those around him. And the glory days may follow.
Congrats Frank. I’m excited for the future.
