Jim Irsay is one of the most forward NFL owner in the league. He has gained a strong presence on twitter–tweeting about the team, posting whatever lyrics come to his head, and giving away gifts to fans.
Saturday night, the Colts opened the 2011 preseason on the road in St. Louis and it wasn’t very pretty. Curtis Painter threw an interception less than a minute in as the Colts lost to the Rams 33 to 10.
Below are some insightful tweets on Jim Irsay’s part, talking about the team, quarterback position and recent draft picks. (Note: I cleaned them up for an easier read)
Well, in Coltsland we review last night’s game…we never have carried veteran quarterbacks for cap reasons. Preseason wins wane against veterans. Feeley-Bradford are young QBs and got a lot of snaps. We like to keep our vets rested, while also gettin’ them ready for the opener, and while we look at the young guys.
Chris and Bill Polian and coaches will continue to hone roster, heading up to opening day. We like our team, like our new guys. We’re getting healthier, and 18 is healing well.
Whether we sign another QB, which you guys have asked about, is a good question…the answer is, dunno yet, but candidates are limited in cap space.
Our first three draft picks are big, athletic guys…all three between 305-320 pounds and can move like dancing bears…they’re really gonna be Colts you remember.
Nevis n Hughes are going to add even more power to our rush, and it was good to see Harris get snaps and stay healthy…good to see Gonzo n Austin play injury free.
Darren Evans will push Delone Carter. That’s why free agents like to sign with us. It doesn’t matter if we drafted you or not, we keep the best guy.
