The Indianapolis Colts hold the top pick in April’s NFL draft and owner Jim Irsay has said he will draft a quarterback.
Peyton Manning’s chance of returning to the Colts are very slim and he may not be able to play again. I do believe he will force it and at least give it a try somewhere else. We know many teams are willing to take the chance.
Thursday, former Colts Vice Chairman Bill Polian talked on his new SiriusXM radio show about Andrew Luck and what impresses.
“He can make all the throws. His arm strength is not what RG’s (Robert Griffin III) is but it’s plenty, plenty good enough. In fact, you’d call it very good. RG’s is off the charts. Andrew is very good. His release is good enough, plenty good enough.”
Many experts believe the Colts’ choice is easy and drafting Luck is a no-brainer. He is the highest rated college quarterback since John Elway. Although Polian believes Griffin’s arm strength is much better, a Luck-Manning comparison has to entice Colts fans.
“The best thing he does is see the field. I can’t think of a quarterback since Peyton Manning who sees the field as well as Andrew Luck….He is just a unique cat in that he is Peyton Manning-like in his knowledge of the game, his execution, his coolness under fire.”
Polian will be on PTI for ‘5 Good Minutes’ Thursday afternoon and I’m sure they’ll go in-depth on the Peyton Manning situation. The interview will air around 5:40 p.m. on ESPN.
