The Indiana-Kentucky All-Star game is a tradition that dates back long before it was born. And it’s a tradition that I have always known and enjoyed.
The annual game dates back to 1940, and this year will be the 74th meeting between the boys teams. Although crowds have been much fewer lately, just like state championship weekend, it still is a big deal in this state.
That’s why when I read that none of the games are televised, and no Indianapolis radio station is picking up the games, I had to step in. It’s one thing not to broadcast the junior all-star games, but another not to air the two meetings against rival Kentucky. I’ve been told only Regional Radio is picking it up.
I will be announcing the exhibition games against the junior team on Wednesday at Pendleton Heights High School and Saturday’s boys game against Kentucky at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in an online broadcast. I tried to make it a video stream, but that won’t be the case.
Thanks to the equipment of IUSportCom, we are joining forces to broadcast the games because 1) it will be a blast and 2) so you can listen, no matter where you are.
Exhibition: Wed., June 6: Exhibition vs. Junior All-Stars at Pendleton Heights High School. Admission is $5.
