Hello, friends. I hope you are all enjoying and taking full advantage of your summer.
My idea to start my own site began in the fall of 2009. Because I attend and cover so many sporting events, it only made sense to share my perspective and “seat,” if you will.
I am very active and involved in the media, holding about nine part-time jobs doing whatever I can in the business.
This whole thing began as a simple blog on November 1st, 2009 and blossomed into the site you were most familiar with on May 1st, 2010.
Today, we begin a new chapter on VigilantSports.com. A face-lift was much needed and it was important for me to have our own unique design. The website is much cleaner and more user-friendly.
Our mobile version for the iPhone, Blackberry, Droid and more is enhanced and easier than ever to use. The mobile site is a much quicker version and easier to read while on the go.
A few other additions of note—The Vigilant Club (newsletter), increased accessibility to content, enhanced polls, and a better display of multimedia. More will be added soon including additional weekly features.
I would like to grow our social media presence. I am very active on twitter, posting top blogs, pictures and noteworthy news. Vigilant Sports’s twitter account has over 80 followers and that needs to grow as well so give us a follow. And our Facebook fan page where news and articles are posted at, has 17 fans.
VS began as a one man band and now we have a staff a consistent staff of five and as many as eight—the numbers will only continue to grow. We have writers on four different campuses in the state of Indiana for different angles and twists.
In addition to stories, commentary and photos, we have plenty of videos and behind-the-scenes coverage. In fact, our YouTube channel has over 115,000 views and counting.
I am very proud of the direction of the VS. And I am very happy whenever I hear someone new bring the website up and learn who is behind it. I take pride in providing fresh content, unique ideas and quality information. From a sports standpoint, there is so much going on in the state of Indiana and my hope is to capture key pieces right here. It is my hope that VigilantSports.com is bookmarked in the browser of people around the state and even across the United States. I like to think we are also a quality outlet for Indiana sports fans who live out of the state to stay in touch and up to date.
And finally, I am very grateful for the work Rob Nichols of RockForward put into redesigning the website. I can make edits and move things around but Rob was instrumental in making VigilantSports.com cleaner, more organized and faster than before.
More importantly, thanks to all you loyal readers out there who turn to us for Indiana sports coverage throughout the site. We are very thankful to have you on board. Don’t be afraid to retweet, send a link or forward the site to a friend!
I hope you like the new look and enhanced coverage. And as always if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please visit our contact page.
