The Colts are still winless heading into their game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. A few days before the team arrives, Indy’s probable future quarterback Andrew Luck was sporting a Colts jersey in Baltimore on Friday.
Andrew Luck flew across the states to accept the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award.
“This is all about Johnny Unitas and honoring him and has nothing to do with the NFL in any way,” Luck told Jeff Barker of the Baltimore Sun.
This award is one of many honors for Luck who is one of five finalists for the Heisman Trophy.
It has been well publicized that Peyton Manning and Luck have talked on numerous occasions. Luck was very appreciative of the advice Peyton shared last offseason.
“I called him to talk about coming back to college, obviously he made a similar decision and came back, he gave me a lot of great advice in terms of not worrying about injuries and playing and understanding that it won’t be easy just because you came back to college. People aren’t going to lay down on you and in fact, it’ll be harder.”
The redshirt-junior quarterback is planning on entering his name into the 2012 NFL Draft and with the Colts uncertainty at quarterback, Luck is the obvious choice.
Albert Breer of the NFL Network tweeted this afternoon, “polled three GMs, four personnel execs on what Colts should do. All seven answered: ‘Draft Andrew Luck.'”
Twitterholic Colts owner Jim Irsay posted a humorous response saying, “Good AlbertBreer…7 NFL execs I can listen to and not pay!”
