First, let me say I’m sorry. I’m sorry I’ve put this baby of mine, Vigilant Sports, on the back burner for the last three months or so. Ever since the Pacers hit training camp, I’ve been going nonstop. Well, really since August 2012, when I was hired as the beat reporter for Pacers.com.
After landing the job, my goal was to not let this site get away from me and to at least post once a week. I’m always thinking and pondering big issues and small, but because my job is to write, I tried to get away from it when I could.
It is a job I’m thankful for, and one that I’m making the most of. I had no idea when I started a blog while in school, which became VS, that it would help land me my first job — and just a few months out of college. My busyness isn’t an excuse, but I’m ready to get back after it.
Twitter is my favorite avenue, but it’s not the best for everything. Having this platform allows me to dive further into issues and make my thoughts crystal clear. After all, there’s no character limit on here.
Indy and its sports are at special point right now, with the Pacers proudly having the league’s best record, and the Colts getting set to play the Patriots in Foxboro in the second-round of the playoffs. The Big Ten Football Title Game was over at Lucas Oil Stadium, Bankers Life Fieldhouse will again be hosting the Big Ten Basketball Tournament, both men’s and women’s. Although Indiana basketball is down from last season’s top ranking, it’s still — and forever will be — must-see TV for me.

It’s good to be back.
