Don Fischer voted Indiana Sportscaster of the Year for the 25th time

Don Fischer, the Voice of the Indiana Hoosiers, was named Indiana Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association.

It’s the 25th year that Fischer — in his 45th season at IU calling football and men’s basketball games — has earned the title, easily the most in association history. The selection is based on voting from members of NSMA.

Myles Turner diagnosed with ligament and muscle strain in right elbow, listed as week-to-week

Myles Turner’s sore right elbow has been diagnosed as a ligament sprain and muscle strain, the Pacers announced Monday. He has been ruled out for the team’s five-game road trip and is listed as week-to-week.

Best of all, surgery is not required.

Turner sustained this right elbow injury one week ago on a one-handed jam minutes into their win over Milwaukee. He was clearly bothered …

Ep. 73: Damien Wilkins

Damien Wilkins was released by the Pacers one week ago, just before his contract became guaranteed for the rest of the season. What he did, earning a roster spot, and the impact he was able to have with the Pacers in a little more than four months was special.

Here’s a sample from starting center Myles Turner on Wilkins no longer being on the team:…

Pacers sign Ben Moore to two-way contract

Mad Ants forward Ben Moore signed a two-way contract with the Pacers on Friday. The deal is for the rest of this season, league sources told VigilantSports.com.

This is the first season that two-way contracts have existed with the goal to improve the G League, salaries, and give players more opportunities. Players may sign for one or two years but may not include options. They …

Battle with LeBron excites but doesn’t intimate Lance Stephenson, who was key in 22-point comeback

Lebron James, Lance Stephenson, Born Ready, Cleveland Cavaliers, Pacers

Lance Stephenson says he doesn’t have back-and-forth conversations with LeBron James. In fact, they don’t speak at all. They play, and they sure battle for certain.

You knew a moment was coming Friday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse as the Cleveland Cavaliers visited for the second and final time during the regular season, it was just a matter of when.

Lance and LeBron. Don’t take …

Running thoughts: Pacers 97, Cavaliers 95

Here are my running thoughts from the Pacers’ 97-95 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Myles Turner missed his second game in a row due to a sore right elbow, an injury he sustained in Monday’s win over Milwaukee. Guards Dwyane Wade (rest) and Isaiah Thomas (right hip) both held out being on the second night of a back-to-back. Derrick…

Pacers teammates surprised Damien Wilkins at birthday celebration

Damien Wilkins, known as the wise vet in the Pacers’ locker room, celebrated his 38th birthday on Thursday.

This comes a few weeks after he learned that his fiancé would be having a boy — Baby Zion, due in May — and four days after the Pacers waived him before his contract became guaranteed for the remainder of the season.

Icing on his birthday cake …

Running thoughts: Heat 114, Pacers 106

Here are my running thoughts from the Pacers’ 114-106 loss to the Miami Heat Wednesday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The Pacers announced Wednesday afternoon that Myles Turner would miss the two games scheduled this week and would be reevaluated. He injured his right elbow on a dunk in Monday’s win over Milwaukee. Miami forward James Johnsons was suspended for tonight’s game without pay by…
