Big Ten women’s basketball tournament underway in Indy

Big Ten Football Championship, Crossroads Classic, Super Bowl. Check, check and check.

Now, Indianapolis turns their focus on the Big Ten basketball tournament, held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. For the fourth year in a row, Indy has been the home for the conference tournament and done a terrific job. Next year it will return to Chicago as the two sites will alternate serving as host.

It’s officially March, and selection Sunday for the men’s NCAA tournament is just eleven days away.

I am always proud of how the city and volunteers come together to put on a great event. They are never desperate for volunteers, instead turning away able bodies to keep numbers smaller.

The city is so hospitable, going out of their way to take care of the guests and adding signage to make everyone recognize what’s going on.

I’m working the event, for the fourth straight year. I’ll be at every game, both women’s and men’s, and will detail the games, city and notes behind-the-scenes. Stay tuned, and follow me on twitter for more updates.

The schedule for Thursday’s games:
11:30 a.m. – No. 7 Michigan, No. 10 Illinois
2:00 p.m. – No. 6 Nebraska vs. No. 11 Northwestern
6:00 p.m. – No. 8 Minnesota vs. No. 9 Wisconsin
8:30 p.m. – No. 5 Michigan State vs. No. 12 Indiana
