This weekend I have another exciting opportunity, broadcasting my second Indiana basketball game for BTN. The Hoosiers host the Stetson University Hatters to Assembly Hall at 4:30 pm EST on Sunday. The game can be seen live on BTN.com and will air on BTN Monday at 7 pm EST.

The Stetson broadcast will be my third time announcing an IU men’s basketball game this year, two of which were for the Big Ten Network. I was on the call for Indiana’s only exhibition game of the season against the University of Indianapolis. Former Hoosier star and current Los Angeles Clippers guard Eric Gordon joined me for that broadcast. Unfortunately there were plenty of technical problems behind the scenes that prevented the game from airing on the network.
Sunday I will be paired with Brian Evans, the 1996 Big Ten MVP who played at IU from 1992-96. He was drafted 27th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 1996 NBA draft. Evans is from Indiana, playing his high school ball at Terre Haute South. I first met him in October during the IU media challenge and he is a fun personality. I’m anxious to hear his in-game analysis and his feelings about the Hoosiers this year. I’m sure for a former player, it has been especially challenging to watch IU the last three years.
Broadcasting is my passion and where I want to make my living. As I’ve always said, if I can broadcast a game that I would be at anyway and get paid to do it, life is good. Tune in Sunday as the Hoosiers look to remain unbeaten.
Oh how I miss the days when Channel 4 and the IU Network broadcast EVERY game, instead of this cheap webcast alternative. What an absolute crime that the Big Ten Network and Jim Delaney has perpetrated against our beloved Hoosiers with this sort of nonsense.
Hey Scott Great for you! BTN.com Sucks for every Hoosier fan in this great country….If your not actually at the game…
I understand your frustration because I nobody wants to pay an additional cost for games that were always on. As a whole, the Big Ten Network has been huge for the Big Ten in various ways.
1) At least $7 million in additional revenue
2) Extended coverage, live press conferences, comprehensive shows
3) Game wise, anyone in the country can subscribe to the network to ensure they can watch the games they carry. Most of those that complain are local. Think about the guy that lives in Texas and can still watch the games.
I know the webstream cost isn’t favorable but if you really want to watch it live, then you’ll pay. Otherwise wait 24 hours and it’ll be on BTN.
No making excuses, but I think it’s important to also highlight what BTN has done.
I’m out of state and I think the BTN sucks. I used to be able to pay for the ESPN package and see all the games. Now I pay extra to get BTN and I miss out on games. Most people could care less about the other Big Ten programming(shows, minor sports, etc…) We pay extra to watch our football and basketball teams games.
The BTN needs to also think about all the older/life long fans that used to watch the games for free. These are the true fans that miss out because they are not tech literate.
Hope you have a great game call. You shouldn’t be too nervous knowing that only a handful of people will be paying to watch.
“Then you will pay” ….I already pay! And you and the BTN expect me to pay again…You guys are like soapmakers …the bar of soap looks the same till you unwrap it..then u find out your paying more $ for less soap…I watched the NCst game on ESPN3 for free
Why do you guys pay for this stuff? In 2 minutes you can find a free stream of any sport you want using Google. I will be watching IU today from my living room without paying, it is NOT hard at all.
